content developers host web sites on their own servers, often with just
a single connection to the Internet. This approach compromises web site
performance and reliability. Companies that specialize in providing site
hosting services can do a much better job of providing the hardware,
but usually don't develop the content for the site. If you make your own
arrangements with a site hosting provider (or have someone make
them on your behalf) then you have better control over the site's content
and content development. For example, if you are dissatisfied with the
content, you can more easily switch to a different developer.
